People love their animals, there’s no other way to put it. For many, their pooch is their child; a companion who offers love and friendship day after day. Because your pooch gives you so much love and appreciation, you naturally want to give that back. Luckily, pups are easy to please; unlike their finicky feline friends. Let’s look at just a few ways you can give you canine companion the royal treatment.
Lots of folks love to give their pooch special treatment by dressing them up. Really, more enjoyment may be received by the owner than the dog in such cases; but this is your decision to make. You could give your doggie something to smile about by getting him a tiny Viking helmet to wear; but this might not be the most comfortable headpiece. A Viking helmet might be a great pooch Halloween costume; but for everyday wear, think comfort. Really, your pet just might love a cozy sweater to wear on days when the sun is hidden or, gasp!, there’s snow on the ground.
While playing dress-up with your doggie may seem like a super fun idea; it may not be as much fun for them as for you. Perhaps something that will really set them up in style is a royally luxurious dog bed. Today there are dog beds on the market that are made to look like miniature day beds. Styles vary widely enough to be suitable for any breed; and both male or female. For that feisty terrier who would confidently don the Viking helmet, think of richly colored velvet bedding; maybe a piece of art featuring a leg bone hanging overhead.
When you want to make someone, person or canine, feel extra special, the first thing you would normally do is think of the specific things they might enjoy receiving. Dogs are, fortunately, pretty easy to read and thus easy to give gifts to. Snacks, especially. Special dog treats are always a welcome surprise; but should really be reserved for occasions when a reward is called for. Give your pooch praise and a special treat when you catch them behaving as they should, or have learned a new trick.
On the list of favorite dog pastimes is that of play. Play can consist of a number of activities, which is good for you as the dog owner. Most dogs can be perfectly satisfied with an early morning stroll, an afternoon jaunt or a late night jog. Whatever fits into your schedule and lifestyle; your dog will follow suit. The point to remember is to do it. Dogs love the company of their owners; but have specific needs for physical activity as well.
If you don’t like the idea of long walks with your pooch, but have a yard where you can throw a ball for them to retrieve, this type of play is acceptable and allows you to break up the monotony of regular walks. To really alleviate any hassle, and give your dog a real thrill, visit a local dog park and let your little prince or princess mingle with the masses!
